What Is Pet Acupuncture?

feline accupuncture at Alii Animal

Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points on the body via the insertion and manipulation of very fine, sterile, taper point needles. Medical acupuncture builds upon the 3,000-year-old Chinese practice, based on the study of qi or “vital energy,” and its flow through the body. Acupoints often correspond with blood vessels and nerve clusters, where physiological communications can be interrupted due to pain, injury, or illness.

The fine needles stimulate therapeutic effects in the body that enhance circulation, relieve muscle tension, and release neurotransmitters and other chemicals which help relieve pain and decrease inflammation.
