Celebrating Our Four Years of Service
Ali’i Animal Hospital & Resort, Honolulu’s first pet resort and full-service animal hospital, is celebrating four years of animal care in Hawaii and abroad. This remarkable milestone showcases the commitment, innovation, and unwavering dedication to “Helping Pets Live Their Best Lives.” Since its inception in 2019, Ali’i Animal Hospital & Resort has grown exponentially, adapting to unique challenges, expanding its services, and leaving a lasting paw print in the hearts of pet owners all over the world.
Ali’i Animal Hospital & Resort began its journey before the onset of COVID-19 and became an essential business during the unique climate of the pandemic. Founders, Dr. Joanna Cook and Matt Malta, introduced a pioneering concept of pet care to Honolulu with a state-of-the-art facility that has been instrumental in servicing pets and pet parents with innovative and whole pet healthcare since. Ali’i Animal Hospital & Resort is a first-of-its-kind animal hospital and resort with an in-house pharmacy, x-rays, doggie daycare, and spacious pet suites for overnight boarding.
Over the years, Ali’i Animal Hospital expanded its pawprint, adding new clinics in the Kailua and Kahala neighborhoods. This strategic growth ensures that more pets and their owners have access to the unparalleled care and expertise that Ali’i Animal is known for.
In 2022, Ali’i Unleashed debuted as Hawaii’s largest indoor playground for dogs. This urban pet paradise, located near Ala Moana, offers an array of services, including daycare, boarding, training, and an on-site clinic, providing an oasis for dogs and peace of mind for their owners.

Our Give-Back Initiatives for Maui & Abroad
Ali’i Animal Hospital & Resort’s commitment to the well-being and care of animals continues to extend beyond Oahu. Most recently, the Ali’i Animal Hospital & Resort and it’s pet-loving community rallied to help animals and pets affected by the Maui Fires by donating and sending 10,000 lbs of pet food and animal care supplies, exemplifying the dedication to making a difference wherever animals are in need.
In May of this year, Ali’i Animal sponsored a heartwarming humanitarian trip to provide care in the Turks and Caicos Islands. For Ali’i Animal Hospital veterinarian, Dr. Amanda Greenstein, this trip was a homecoming of sorts. The islands where she spent her formative years played a significant role in shaping her passion for veterinary medicine. Returning to where it all began allowed her to reflect on her journey and the memories that have fueled her dedication to animal care. Dr. Greenstein was accompanied by pre-vet assistants, Mia and Lilly. The Ali’i Animal team had the privilege and opportunity to learn more about veterinary medicine and collaborate with the Turks and Caicos Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) at the School for Fields Studies, making a pawsitive impact on the community’s pets and strays.
